Interlude II- From a Dream

He couldn't tell where she was going, but she was forever on the run
She ran from herself, not deciding upon a course, she ran from everything
Somewhere long ago, some hurt befell her that was yet too unclear
She had no name, nor knew that from which she came
The questions she had, they burned in the pit of her skittish heart
Wanting to feel whole, she forever chased false happiness
Trying to please others, never keeping anything for herself
She needed one to love her, but she only wanted the ones who hurt
Every time was always the same, they took what they wanted leaving her more confused than before
They left her sitting all alone, she called down from her liar's chair, and said  "I'll show them"
She went on a tear, breaking the ones who tried to love her, she always fell beside the ones that hurt her
Caught in a world, full of deceit and pain, May she escape the game she plays
For she knows not how to get there, but wants what all little girls want inside
A man to hold her, and to make her his own
Not someone to take from her, but to help her see she's whole
No longer juxtaposed in shadows, but seeing with great clarity
That she knew who she was all along, she just couldn't always see
The dreamer sees this dream last night, Not knowing if there is hope for her, he says a little prayer
For God, be just and help your children home
They are all but weeping now, They cannot find their way alone
